For those of you who’ve had racy content on your Yuwie profile and have had it locked until you removed it, you can breathe a sigh of relief. I guess to classify content as racy really depends on the person viewing your profile.

Most content that will give other people cause for concern, I enjoy.

I like watching beautiful women wearing thong & skimpy bikinis, but many people do not. Instead of locking your profile and forcing you to remove your bikini photos, the new policy now at Yuwie is to flag your account as having racy content. If a person heading over to your profile does not like racy content a pop-up window will open warning them of racy content ahead. They then have a choice to proceed, or not.

I think this is a lot fairer than locking a users profile and forcing them to remove the content.

Now if a member objects to the flag and the warning pop-up window, they can remove the content and e-mail Yuwie support and have the flag removed.

Today Yuwie has instituted a new Anti Spam Policy. It seems that some members are spamming and Yuwie almost had its domain name, yuwie.com, canceled by its registrar Go Daddy! Ouch!

In an agreement between Go Daddy and Yuwie.com, Yuwie agreed to start deleting the accounts of those members who have been reported for Spamming.

In the last 2 days, the Yuwie.com domain was almost cancelled by our registrar, Go Daddy, Inc. Because we are registered through Go Daddy, we are required to abide by their terms of service, just like Yuwie users are required to be bound by ours.

They have been getting a lot of spam complaints, and to keep them from canceling Yuwie.com, we’ve come to an agreement with them. Starting today, we are REQUIRED to delete all member accounts that are reported by Go Daddy for spam complaints.

We have added a section in our regular TOS about this, and all members will be required to accept these new terms before you continue use of Yuwie.

Spam has become a MAJOR problem with the reputation and growth of Yuwie. Hopefully our partnership with Go Daddy will take care of the problem once and for all.

So you signed-up with Yuwie. Now what?

Well, if you have blogs outside the Yuwie network you can drive traffic to those blogs from within Yuwie. “I am a member of Yuwie and I can’t possibly see how to accomplish that,” you say.

Let me answer your question then.

Yuwie is a social networking site, so socialize. Here are a few things you can do to make good use of your social network on Yuwie:

1) Don’t turn down requests to be your friend.

2) Request friendships from as many Yuwie members as is possible everyday.

You know, make as many “friends” as you possibly can.

Once you do this, visit their profiles and start commenting, visit their blogs and comment on them as well. And when you do comment, write something that will attract attention. Make yourself known and liked. Get popular. You can do this on a social network better than you could at school, I bet.

Once you get some good traffic to your profile form within Yuwie itself, add your blog feeds (or you can just add your feeds before you start, it’s your choice).

Back in February 11, 2008. Y Guy (that’s Yuwie’s version of Tom on MySpace) posted on Yuwie’s blog about how the system gives away referrals randomly to active members. What happens is that some Yuwie members sign-up unreferred. Meaning that no one referred them. This happens because they stumble upon Yuwie thru a search engine, like Google or Yahoo!, or an article reviewing Yuwie with no monetary motive on the part of the author.

This is what Y Guy wrote:

…any new user that signs up unreferred will automatically be assigned to an existing member. What determines who gets this new member? There are 3 qualifications that have to be meet before we pick an account to assign the new member to:

1. You have to have been a member for more than 30 days.
2. You have to have been online in the last hour.
3. You can only receive 1 random referral per day.

The system will randomly pull a userID from all accounts that meet these 3 requirements and assign the new member to your level 1.

Things you need to know:

1. All assignments are random, you may never get a random referral.
2. These assigned members may be studs or duds. They may refer 100s of people, or they may delete their account in 10 minutes. Either way, we will not assign you a different referral.
3. You will receive a message when you receive one of these random referrals.
4. The more you’re online, the better your chances are to get a random referral.

If you are or have been a member of social networking sites, like MySpace and Facebook, you no doubt have been turned off by the many members who go overboard with their profile layouts. Many layouts are so bad that you can’t even make out the text that the members write because the background is almost the same color as the text!

How do these people work with such layouts is beyond me. Really.

Yuwie has a solution to this problem, it’s called the Yuwie Toolbar. If you are a member of Yuwie I suggest you download and use this great toolbar when browsing the Yuwie network. Not because it brings so many of Yuwie’s features within easy reach when browsing thru the network, but because of one feature in particular they call De-Ugly.

The De-Ugly button toggles users’ profile layouts on and off. It changes every Yuwie profile back to the Yuwie default layout (including yours). If you click it again, profiles will have their custom layouts. It’s that simple.

You can download the toolbar directly from your Yuwie control panel by clicking on the image on the top right corner.
